Introduction
This year’s Defence Equipment Maintenance Conference (DEM 09) will be held at Arborfield near Reading on 11-12 November, hosted by Brigadier BW McCall ADC, the Director of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (Army). The focus for DEM 09 will be the changing nature of equipment support in meeting the challenges of supporting NATO and coalition forces on operations. In particular the conference will address the role of maintenance, repair and overhaul on operational capability in general and equipment availability in particular. It will include trends and innovation in equipment support practice that will affect both the defence community and industry. It is intended for an audience from UK defence, UK industry and international representation and promises to provide an informative and stimulating debate on how maintenance will develop the capability to match the operational requirements of the future.
