“An outstanding conference, being the first of its kind for this country, that facilitated an exchange of information that will improve our capability for warfighting aviation and improve our safety. Well done the Shephard team.”
Major General Anthony Fraser, Australian Army, Australia

Unmanned Vehicles Conference Programme

UV systems are appearing more and more in everyday use, particularly in military operations, and their acceptance as an integral tool of modern industry has made great progress in the past couple of years.  There is a sense, however, that some of the management issues associated with the effective use of UV systems are not keeping pace with the technological changes.

UV Pacific Conference will provide a forum to examine this dichotomy. military topics will address the lessons of current operational experience around the globe and examine the increasingly complex issues of managing the electromagnetic spectrum as it applies to UV operations. Other areas to be covered will be the integration of manned and unmanned systems on the battlefield, training of operators and commanders, and the latest technology to enhance the military capabilities of UV systems.

On the commercial side of the house, the conference will address the increasing gulf between UV capability and regulation. Technology is advancing rapidly, but the ability of operators to fully exploit the advances is constrained by the glacial pace of regulatory reform. What can be done by operators and by regulators to narrow the gap?

The conference will also provide the opportunity to hear latest advances from those engaged in R&D activities, with some views on the impact of new technology on management and the regulatory environment.

UV Pacific Conference will seek to hear from operators about the lessons learned from their development and how they have turned such lessons into growth. A diverse range of commercial and military speakers from Australia and overseas will address these topics and more, to provide a stimulating and thought provoking conference for commercial and military operators, regulators and industry.

Key speakers include:

OPENING ADDRESS DAY ONE
Steven Quinn, CSC, Chief Land Operations Division, Australia

Committed speakers include:
Dr Vinod Puri, MAGIC 2010, Co-chair, Defence Science and Technology Organisation, DSTO, Australia
Mark Xavier, Managing Director, V-TOL Aerospace, Australia
