| The Challenges of Helicopter Operations now and in the future The continuing need to deploy helicopters on operations in austere regions of the world is challenging all in the international helicopter community. All nations are working together to find unique solutions to these challenges and increase the numbers of helicopters available. Heli-Power 2010 will bring together leaders of the international defence helicopter community and their industry counterparts to debate and take forward the best ways of meeting these challenges. The challenges start with making the helicopter capable of operating and survivable in austere operational theatres, transporting them over large distances and then supporting them with the minimum of effort. The challenge then becomes one of ever evolving tactics to counter the threat posed by increasingly sophisticated enemy tactics. In previous years Heli-Power has focused on operations in Afghanistan and Iraq but there are equally demanding operations in the Caribbean and Indian Ocean, so this year’s conference will start with a keynote address on the “Challenges of Delivering Helicopter Forces for the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm in its 101st Year”, expanding the conference into the maritime and littoral areas. As a change of format we are now calling for Papers so that the conference will be a blend of those who have something new and exciting to tell with those at the front line of delivering helicopter operations and support. The conference will cover all aspects of helicopter operations from requirements, through procurement and training to operations on the battlefield. |
