THE ROLE OF ROTARY ASSETS IN NATIONAL AND JOINT OPERATIONS WITHIN THE GULF REGION
Now in its 3rd year, Shephard’s Heli Middle East returns to a full two-day military themed conference in 2008.
The nation states within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region – Oman, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar – are currently bringing into sharper focus their individual and collective security requirements. This stretches from border security – whether land-based or maritime – to military operations working either nationally or with coalition partners.
Whether disaster relief or military operations, deployed forces need to be able to operate remotely and communicated with others taking part. Conference themes this year are being planned to include the growing potential of unmanned aerial vehicles together with their payloads, tiltrotor developments, the challenges of troop lift for national and coalition operations, sustaining the rescue force during disaster relief operations and SAR/CSAR operations among others.
All who have attended the previous two Heli Middle East conferences held in the Sultanate of Oman commented on the warm, gracious and generous reception of their hosts and a superb environment to meet existing and new contacts.
Under the guidance of the Ministry of Tourism and the full cooperation of the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) and the Royal Oman Police, Heli Middle East 2008 will comprise two days of presentations and debate on a wide range of capability and equipment analysis encompassing planning and lessons learned by other nations.
The conference sessions over the two days will include the following:
The French experience of CSAR operations
CSAR training within Joint Operations in the UAE
V-22 Osprey – Practical Lessons Learned from the First Deployment
Fire Scout Trials in Maritime Operations
