Fokker Services increases F70/100 maintenance intervals
September 14, 2009
Fokker Services has received EASA approval to extend maintenance intervals for Fokker 70 and Fokker 100 aircraft. The company declares that this will lead to significant reductions in direct maintenance costs.
Helped by input from Fokker 70 and Fokker 100 operators, Fokker Services has been able to increase line maintenance task intervals below 4,000 flight hours (FH) by 20%. Fokker Services has also evaluated the 4,000 FH tasks (covering the operating period from 2004 until 2008) and increased these by 25% where possible. Fokker Services is now in the process of obtaining approval from EASA. The outcome is expected later this year.
Johan Schot, vice-president maintenance, Tyrolean Airways, commented, "We are very satisfied with this development and Fokker Services’ willingness to further improve the Fokker 70 and Fokker 100 maintenance programmes. By increasing the intervals Fokker Services meets the requirements of its customers. This definitely contributes to the competitiveness of the operation of Tyrolean Airways."
Fokker Services is currently working on the 8,000 FH and 12,000 FH tasks with the aim of extending them to 10,000 FH and 15,000 FH. Fokker Services also plans to follow a similar approach for the Fokker 50 maintenance programme.
