airBaltic starts two routes from Lappeenranta, Finland

November 12, 2009

airBaltic has begun two new routes from Lappeenranta, Finland, to the Estonian capital of Tallinn and to the Latvian capital of Riga.

airBaltic is offering flights between Lappeenranta and Tallinn four times a week, using Boeing 737s on the 50 minute journey. The Lappeenranta–Riga route also has flights four times a week with 737s operating the 2 hr 15 min service.

airBaltic chief commercial officer Tero Taskila, commented, “We are delighted that airBaltic will write history as the first airline to link Lappeenranta with Estonia and Latvia. airBaltic is rapidly expanding in Finland and we naturally want to offer extra convenience for our customers in Lappeenranta by opening these new routes. It means that people from Southeastern Finland can travel to Latvia and Estonia, or via the Riga airport to destinations such as Barcelona, Berlin, Zurich, Venice, Vienna, Moscow, and Kaliningrad. Lappeenranta is a beautiful destination and the new airBaltic flight will attract more foreign travellers from Western Europe, Scandinavia, Mediterranean region and CIS.”
