Silverstone upgrades to a permanent heliport with Heli Air
February 09, 2010
Heli Air and Silverstone Circuits Ltd announce today that Heli Air has been selected to operate a permanent heliport at the Silverstone Race Track.
In addition to plans for a new purpose built facility, the new partnership will provide helicopter experiences, charter, flight training and full heliport facilities at Silverstone Circuit on a daily basis, as well as for all of the major events held there during the year.
Indeed Heli Air Silverstone is the only way to fly into Silverstone Circuit on the weekend of the 2010 Formula 1 Santander British Grand Prix.
2010 is an important year for Silverstone Circuits. In addition to the newly agreed long term contract to host the British Grand Prix, the Northampton Circuit will also welcome the British MotoGP for the first time this year.
Such prestigious long term contracts have enabled Silverstone to enter a new phase of investment and development to upgrade both the track and the facilities for visitors. In terms of the new heliport, this will increase the enjoyment for visitors to races, experience days and the many other events throughout the year as well as establishing Silverstone as a major helicopter base - rather than just the world record holder for the most aircraft movements in a day.
“We are very pleased that Heli Air will be the Silverstone Heliport Operator” said Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Ltd. “We believe that their knowledge of running helicopter operations will provide the highest levels of service that we demand for our customers and that together we will continue to develop even better experiences for all our visitors.”
Through the partnership Silverstone Circuits Ltd and Heli Air Silverstone are developing a range of exciting offerings for both aviators and motorsport fans that will allow each to experience the excitement of the other in a comfortable, convenient and safe environment. From short flights as part of driving experience days, through those wishing to learn to fly, to people arriving for a race event everyone, even F1 drivers and MotoGP riders, will be catered for.
Sean Brown, Managing Director of Heli Air Ltd commented that “The whole of the Heli Air team are delighted that we have been selected as the Silverstone Heliport Operator. The standards set by Silverstone Circuits Ltd are synonymous with our approach and our future plans. We look forward to welcoming visitors to Silverstone throughout 2010 and beyond.”
In order to secure this agreement to operate the heliport as part of this upgrade, Heli Air were required to demonstrate the capability and professionalism to deliver quality services of the highest order. Heli Air, with 20 years of operating experience, provides a full range of helicopter services around the UK and abroad including Charter, Training, Utilities, Maintenance and Sales utilising its fleet of 110 helicopters.
Heli Air takes over management of the heliport from April 1st although the transition is already at an advanced stage and ahead of plan. However bookings are now being taken for the 2010 Formula 1 Santander British Grand Prix held on the 9th, 10th and 11th July and indeed demand for slot bookings is exceeding expectations. Anyone wishing to secure a slot for that busy weekend should contact Heli Air on +44 1494 769976 or silverstone@heliair.com for more information on availability.
